Introducing Columbus Citizens Foundation’s

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Scholarship

fauci-ccf-scholarship.jpg

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci is known to all Americans for his pioneering work on infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, influenza, and Ebola. Most recently, he has been a regular visitor to living rooms across the nation, where he has been instrumental in helping the world during the pandemic of COVID-19.

Dr. Fauci was previously named as a Columbus Celebration Honoree in 1988, for his ground-breaking work on curbing the AIDS epidemic worldwide.

2021 will mark the Foundation's first year of awarding the Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded annually to the student who best exemplifies Dr. Fauci's commitment to public safety, and has been accepted into an accredited graduate program studying medicine or public health policy.

At inception, the Fauci Scholarship is seeking to raise one million dollars in endowment that will be distributed as $25,000 annual amounts to a single recipient each year.

Executive Director of CCF, Lisa Ackerman, noted: “We are thrilled to be introducing this new scholarship to our existing program. The qualities of empathy, understanding, and perseverance that Dr. Fauci has exemplified throughout his career, will all be prerequisites for potential candidates. We are fortunate to be starting our fundraising with significant leadership donations, including a gift of $100,000 from the Francesco and Mary Giambelli Foundation and a $25,000 grant from a Board Member.”

Leadership support in the Dr. Anthony S. Fauci scholarship is defined as a donation of $25,000 or above. When you give at this level, you join a community of benefactors who are helping CCF create the Dr. Fauci of the future. As one of the scholarship’s most committed supporters, you (or your foundation/corporation) will be thanked visually and verbally at our 2020 Virtual Gala and during our Columbus Day Special airing on WABC-7. If you or your company can donate $25,000 or more to the scholarship’s endowment, please contact Lisa Ackerman at lackerman@columbuscitizens.org.
