A rich array of events celebrating Italian culture in the greater Sarasota community awaits as Sarasota Italian Cultural Events, SICE, plans events each year. SICE provides many opportunities for involvement in Italian culture, music, opera, fine arts, literature, culinary arts, and the performing arts. SICE events are open to people from all walks of life, both Italians and would-be Italians, who simply share a common love of Italian culture and have an interest in its preservation.
Our Mission
The purpose of SICE is to achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation of Italian culture by sponsoring events and supporting the efforts of organizations that highlight Italian heritage and contributions in the greater Sarasota community.
History
In the spring of 2001, an idea was conceived to develop an Annual Events program to celebrate Italian culture and heritage. The idea became a reality in 2002. At that time, the first and only event of this kind was held in the greater Sarasota community with the endorsement of the Consul General of Italy in Miami. SICE received its first grant from NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) in 2002.
